Spooky Swap Meet
October 22 @ 6:00 am - 3:00 pm
Trail Head Cyclery is hosting it’s 2017 Spooky Swap Meet on Sunday, October 22nd rain or shine!
I’ve heard a lot of swap regulars comment that this is the best swap meet in The Bay, and why not? We have consistently over 60 sellers, a couple thousand buyers and the best part is that it’s easy.
Easy to find. We host our Spooky Swap Meet on the front corner of Union and Camden Avenues with approximately 55,000 vehicles driving past every day!
Easy to sell. If you want to sell stuff, you get to park your vehicle at your selling space, and spaces are just $20 each!*
Easy to buy. If you are buying entry is FREE. You can park on site, there are two ATM’s on site, three more across the street and Trail Head staff to help you with technical questions like “will this shock fit my bike?”
Honestly, this is not only the least expensive swap, but the easiest as well. Probably why it keeps growing year after year since 1999!
Details for sellers:
Set up time is between 6 and 7 AM. If you show up after 7 AM you may not get to sell in our swap meet, so please be sure to get here early. There are NO RESERVATIONS.
Normal Selling Spaces are $20 each and are considered a standard vehicle parked closely to the next selling space. If you have a second vehicle, or a trailer, that is a second space. If you have a very large pickup-truck, that will be considered two spaces. Box Trucks are $100.
Selling space fees will be collected after 8 am when you have set up and we can see the size of your space. Know that there will be sellers turned away due to the area filling to capacity, so if you take more space than your vehicle, expect to pay for it. We will not be able to position you in the space of your choosing. We put you where we put you. (Think parking at a huge concert. Take the space you are given or don’t get in the line).
When you arrive, drive to the front of the bike shop and we will direct you into your selling space. Do not set up anywhere else. Do not expect a certain space. We will put you in where we choose to. If you have others you want to be next to, show up together. Do not enter the selling space and request for another late arrival. BIG VEHICLES MUST BE HERE EARLY, or you will be turned away.
When you are in your selling space, you will be setting up your wares on the side of your vehicle with space for a 10×10. Look closely at the photos to get an idea of how everybody sets up.
Thank you sellers, you are the stars of this event!
Details for buyers:
Entry to the Spooky Swap Meet is FREE.
Swap meets are traditionally an early morning thing and a lot of folks who sell at swap meets rely on the early start time, which is why we start so damn early! You can always come later, but understand that by early afternoon, many sellers will have sold their wares and left.
If you want to sell a frame and don’t want to buy a selling space, just strap that thing to your back with a sign on it and wander around. We don’t discourage folks from selling on the go and it’s not considered a space. It will not be the first thing you’ve poached, but there are no rangers here to complain about it…
SHOP STOREWIDE SALE:
Trail Head Cyclery hosts two swap meets a year, this one and our Spring Swap at the end of March or first weekend of April. (Next year’s looks to be on March 25th) During these events, we have a storewide sale where you can save from a little to a whole hellova lot on our massive store inventory. If you’ve been eyeing something at the shop, this is a good opportunity to save some bucks!
Ok, last tip for the sellers… Start now! Get a box, section of a corner, it doesn’t matter, but start putting stuff in there you would rather see as cash in your hand. That old 711 mm handlebar? Whoa, a 25.4mm stem? V-Brakes? 26″ anything? Collect it and if you’re really pro, you will have it all priced before you pack it up. And pack it up or stage it for a quick and easy departure at the hellaciously early hour you need to leave by to get set up BEFORE 8 AM. Wanna increase your odds? Take photos and post ’em on Craig’s List with a link to this page so folks know you’ll be selling!
See you soon!
