Dates are set for our 2017 Spring Dirt Demo! Mark those calendars for May 6th and 7th folks, because we’ll be back out in Santa Teresa County Park slinging the best darn mountain bikes ever with Ibis Cycles, Specialized, YETI Cycles and Transition! That’s right, THC has picked up Transition Bikes and we’re already packing demo bikes in the shop! Ok, more details will be coming as they develop. In the meantime,,,

Here’s a recap of what when down those two fine days last November…

We met up out in Santa Teresa for a Friday and Saturday of riding. Nate from Specialized hauled out their big fifth wheel trailer of sick new 2017 mountain bikes, such as Enduros, Stumpjumpers, Cambers, Rhymes and the 6Fatties too. “Kung-Fu Panda” Bobby and inside guru Mitchell joined the fun and set up about 200 bikes over the two days for our favorite customers. Folks were pumped on the new Enduro with it’s big but not too big 2.6 tires and planted Ohlins suspension. Everybody couldn’t believe how great SRAM Eagle performed with the massive 500% gear range essentially disowning the front derailleur once and for all. While the Stumpjumpers were a favorite as always, the Camber surprised many by how quick and fun it was leading some to choose it over the longer travel brethren. Ladies were stoked to have a size run of Rhymes out there to shred, including some plus tire versions Specialized calls 6Fattie. (Hint, if you slur 650b into six-fatty you get where they came up with the name:-)

Ibis packed an incredible 30 or so Ripleys, Mojo 3s and Mojo HD3s into their sprinter. Legendary wrench Casey and punk rocker Jack set up about 170 bikes while special guest rock star Josh worked the jaw muscles… Folks were crazy for the climbing ease of the Ripley LS, but in the end most were bonkers for how much fun the descent was on either Mojo. Fat, 2.8 tires on some with 2.35 tires on others had folks comparing the new trend against the standard. Both have their merits, but it seems most folks are sticking to the standard for now… Mojo 3 won the day, just ahead of the HD3.

KING TACO was slinging good eats with the help of master BBQ cooks Max and Kate from the iconic Irish Pub C.B. Hannegans of Los Gatos. Folks would rip a few laps, then take a break for some fuel, set up another sweet ride and then head back out for more singletrack. You really couldn’t set up a better test ride opportunity!

KALI PROTECTIVES was set up with sweet new helmets and pads to test out. Their current enduro helmet called the Maya is still one of the best out there, but they showed off their latest addition to the realm called the Interceptor, and damn, it’s got all the details nailed!

FOX RACING SHOX was out there too, showing off their fine assortment of suspension and helping set up everybody’s rides, but what everybody was really keen on was their new dropper post called the Transfer. Riders who got on an Ibis were in luck, as they had the Fox Transfers on them. Smooth and clean, we love everything about them!

THR Team Riders were out ripping endless laps or just helping set up bikes. Local hero Alex Wild must have put in a few million vertical the day before as he wasn’t lapping everybody as usual while enduro stars Shawne, Brian, Liia, Joe, Bjorn and Ashton showed a few how Rocky Ridge is done.

The next demo event is currently slated for MAY 6TH AND 7TH, 2017 with permits pending. Being the Big Spring Demo of Nor-Cal, we’ll have full attendance with Specialized, Ibis, Yeti and our newest line Transition. Expect to see lots of gear and such as well from Fox Shox, TLD, Gamut, Kali, Five Ten, HT and of course, KING TACO!

Saturday and Sunday will be 9 to 5 and we’re collecting $40 for the day pass. ¬†You’ll be fed as many TACOS as you can and ride as many laps on as many bikes as you’re able!
